Introduction

Your fantasy hockey league isn’t simple. Maybe your league is head–to–head, maybe it’s rotisserie, or maybe it has custom weighting for multiple statistical categories. But however you want to slice it, fantasy hockey player rankings based on points alone don’t even come close to what you need.

So how can the Fantasy Hockey Geek help you beat your competition?  A little introduction should clear that right up.  In short:

  • Fantasy Hockey Geek generates custom rankings specifically based on your league's setup.  Quite simply, you won't find any rankings that fit your league better anywhere on the net.
  • Our rankings automatically adjust for position, so you get the best real player value with each pick you make.

Is this you?

  • You’re in a fantasy hockey pool
  • You picked players that were ranked really highly in either a glossy pool mag or on another websites player ranking list
  • You’re not winning your pool (yet)

In the world of fantasy hockey pools, there are some serious questions. Ovechkin or Crosby or Malkin? Lidstrom or Campbell? Unfortunately, there are so many fantasy league setups out there that a simple answer just isn’t possible. In order to really get it, there’s a lot of numbers that need to be crunched.

You want to know how a power forward like Rick Nash stacks up against a pure scorer like Pavel Datsyuk. You want to know which players are valuable in your pool, not just point projection lists like the glossy magazines give you. We’ve all been there.

Remember in high school when there was the nerd that could do things with math that regular kids just didn’t have the time or inclination to do? That’s where the Fantasy Hockey Geek comes in: we did the number crunching. We stayed in on weekends. We missed dates because we’re nerds. But, now we can give you the edge to win your pool.

You tell us how your pool works, and we crunch the numbers and spit out a custom ranking list for your league. Especially if your league has specific positions, you want to know who you should have on your team.

Here’s how we do it:

  1. We take the data from your league setup and use it to establish how the “average” player performs at each position, based on your league’s scoring system.
  2. Our software compares every player against that average replacement player in every statistical category to see how they stack up.

From there, we give you a list of the top players at each position so you can put together a team that blows your competition out of the water.

We give each player a Pool Geek Score, which rates their overall value in your league. But keep this in mind: you are probably not competing against other math–nerds. If defense men turn out to be ultra–valuable due to your league setup but nobody else knows it, you might consider following everyone else’s lead for the first few rounds. Why pick the most valuable defender in your draft in the 1st round if he’ll still be there in the 4th?

Let's look at a completely hypothetical scenario, shall we?
